I have just installed SEO Smartlinks wordpress plugin on this wordpress site. I like it because it makes it really easy to link to your own content. Linking to your own content has the advantage of increasing search engine traffic and also presenting the reader with relevant further reading. All the links on this page are done using SEO Smartlinks. It is really quick and easy to use. I got this tip from Five Minutes with Jack podcasts which is one of my favourite internet marketing podcasts.
I am optimizing the keywords on this post for the keyword “SEO Smartlinks” using another plugin called Yoast. Below is a quick video on SEOsmartlinks
Word of Warning
On installing SEO Smartlinks I have now noticed that the “featured image” functionality in wordpress has stopped working. I will be talking to the developer about this and I’ll let you know how I get on.
Selenium is a cheap supplement that medicals trials suggest is effective at reducing and removing tumours without significant side effects.
I was listening to an interview with Keith Pendlebury he was a nice guy who is retired and spent years researching cancer cures. He has developed a method to cure cancers using selenium that he originally developed to help his father. He is happy to share his method and provide free advice with anyone and has published an ebook on his site that explains more details. In the interview he explains what drove him to do what he is doing and also details the technical reasons as to how selenuim works and the research he did.
On his website he quotes many medical trials that study the use of selenium when combating cancer. In the interview he also mentioned the work of Linus Pauling. I have written a post before about Dr Linus Pauling , winner of 2 Nobel prizes(for Chemistry and Physics). He has also published a number of books on cancer and I have read Cancer and Vitamin C and a few other of his books. He has also researched and documented other Vitamins and minerals and their effect on health including selenium details that can be found at the Oregon State University.
I had originally posted a different image of a selenium supplement on the post but I changed it as keith kindly pointed out which brand and dosage he uses which is Natural Factors selenium at a dosage of 200 mcgs.
Bitcoins are a new currency making a huge impact. BitCoins are an electronic currency that has no bank and allows anonymous ,low cost transactions.
I was listening to two beers with steve where he interviewed Brian Newgen (a bit coins expert) from Dublin Ireland. What makes Bitcoins different to other currencies is
They are are a finite amount in circulation and rules that limit thier distribution (so no systemic inflation),
There are no central banks therefore very low transaction costs
This is not something our educational system or cuture seems to value. However nowadays we have access to more information than ever before, but at the same time we are more confused. This make developing critical thinking skills a higher priority for everyone. I covered problems and the causes of this problem in a previous blog post called “Education or Instruction?”. Poor critical thinking skills are so endemic that many people have lost confidence in their own ability to make decisions. Most people outsource the majority of their most important thinking to other people believing themselves incapable. I believe there’s huge room for improvement in most people , including myself and for this reason I was very excited when I came accross the Trivium and the Peace Revolution Podcast. Lacking in the ability and confidence to scrutinize information makes a person an easy target for scoundrels. The Peace Revolution Podcast aims to provide information and tools to develop skills needed for “intellectual self defence” by developing critical thinking skills.
The Trivium is one of those tools . Today the trivium is taught only in a small group of elite educational establishments. The fundamentals of the trivium are ancient, they were developed by Aristotle. The Latin word “Trivium” means “from the three ways”
1. General Grammar (Answers the question of the Who, What, Where, and the When of a subject.) Discovering and ordering facts of reality comprises basic, systematic Knowledge
2. Formal Logic (Answers the Why of a subject.) Developing the faculty of reason in establishing valid [i.e., non-contradictory] relationships among facts, systematic Understanding
3. Classical Rhetoric (Provides the How of a subject.) Applying knowledge and understanding expressively comprises Wisdom or, in other words, it is systematically useable knowledge and understanding
The mastery of the Trivium allows for an individual to quickly assimilate information, judge its quality and turn this information into wisdom. Wisdom being knowledge that has useful application. In studying the trivium Formal Logic is a good place to start as it deals with the identification of lies, which is something we are bombarded daily. Using Formal Logic to Identify fallacies The study of Formal Logic helps understanding by rooting out contradictions and fallacies. Fallacies are not the same as lies they are information that is either deliberately or unknowingly misleading. With the trivium you can you identify fallacies and also name the type of fallacy that is being perpetrated. For a list common fallacies that you could pop in your wallet see this Mental Antivirus checklist. To see some fallacies in action see below
I currently have the Mental Antivirus checklist in my wallet and have already brought some logical rigour to some pub conversations. I provided some friends a copy of the Mental Antivirus Checklist and found that using the common approach meant we had much more meaningful dialogue than normal.
Final thought
The word trivia is derived from singular for the Trivium. It is interesting how something so important has come stand for something so…………….trivial. I’d love know how you get on with the Trivium – Drop me line in the comments! Paul
Mum and Dad have been over from the UK the last couple of weeks at the country 20 acre residence. We have decided to fence in the house in to prevent kangaroos from eating all my plants. Dad helped me with my fence .(Mum has proofed this)
Mum “We are having an amazing time here….I am really appreciating the selected sightseeing to all the building merchants/ timber yards and DIY outlets….all very cultural!!”
I listen to a lot of podcasts and thought the readers might be interested to know what my favourite were. They all feature stacks of detailed actionable information and are also all really motivating.
Five minutes with Jack
Jack runs a successful business based around The survival podcast and based on this experience he also has alot of great stuff about about setting up community by using podcasts that I haven’t heard anywhere else. This is a business podcast on all manner of internet marketing topics. Recently he had a really good show on some very low level advice about how to effectively use keyword research. The shows are about 5-15 mins long and there is a new show every day.
This is the journey of two smart location independent entrepreneurs. These guys have a number of profitable interesting business ventures which they tell their story on the podcast. They also have tips and tricks and great stuff about outsourcing and working internationally , working with chinese firms and even (shock!) selling real physical products. The shows are fun and they have bags of energy and I’ve been listening to their adventures since more or less the start.
The Smart Passive Income
Pat Flynn has had this the smart passive income website going for a few years he has built a successful business around various passive income streams coming from his various websites and social media presence. He is completely transparent and open about his progress and publishes some great instructional videos on his blog. He also was one of the first people ever to publish his monthly income statements online which he continues to do today. I have just listened to his podcast where he actually went through his yearly income statement which I found very interesting. Recently he has also been conducting a series of interviews with different entrepreneurs using the internet in different ways to improve their businesses which I found very interesting.

I have recently updated my whole server setup and its now costing me less and giving me better performance and security. I now have a very efficient setup for my podcasts, wordpress and webserver backups. I have my wordpress site hosted on hostgatorand a second web server for a second account for hosting my backups and any podcast files hosted with webhostingpad.
This is a great approach for backups because then you have two different locations and companies which spreads risk. From a podcast point of view it is great as it means that people downloading your podcasts will not harm the performance of your website.
For the hosting
I have been using hostgator for some time and have found the support good (they have alot of staff and can get to you quickly). My only gripe is that the chat window has no way of sending screenshots. (For this reason I reccomend to anyone who is talking to hostgator support to email thier support desk with screenshots of your problem so you can refer to it on the chat )
I have just started using webhostingpad as they have had really good review and seem very well priced.
For the backups
I use backup buddy and I’d recommend it to anyone as it backs up everything on your site (including images) and it is easy to setup , supported and you are also able to use it to migrate wordpress site with (a task that can be very painful without it).I have a post that explains more about about how to backup using backup buddy wordpress plugin
One of my new favourite podcasts at the moment is called Doc Fermento Discovers the world its loosely about fermentation although he can have some quite nice interviews on a verity of subjects. He’s big into fermentation after reading a book called Wild Fermentation more info can be found on the wild fermentation website .
While I was on his website I saw this unusual affilaite link. The squatty potty website (left) has a video with some facts about why its better to squat that sit. Seeming it is a good cure digestive conditions and it can cure hemorrhoids. But best of all just look at how much fun its! (see woman above)
